In her own words, written 2004
My life has always been in constant motion. That is the only way I can describe the many phases and changes I have been through.
I was born in Baton Rouge in 1953 and graduated from Baton Rouge High School in 1971. I have been married twice — first to James Myron Prather, then to Gary Michael Hebert — and divorced twice. I have been single a very long time now.
I have two sons, Stephen Myles Prather and Aaron James Prather. It is my joy to watch their lives progress and to watch them go where they can in life. Myles was married recently and survived a vicious cancer. Aaron is newly engaged and I am looking forward to the wedding. Both are very successful and just plain wonderful people.
Becky-world
I live in Grosse Tête, Louisiana, on three acres I own along with my home, and I could probably never live in a city again. The simple joys of country living are what sustain me now. I work full time as a cashier and manager of a Shell station right here in town. I love to garden and cook and visit with my boyfriend Jimmy.
Jimmy and I go camping as often as we can in his fifth-wheel camper — really a travelling hotel room with all the luxuries. I live alone, I don’t have grandchildren yet, and I am delighted to spend all my free time at home in Becky-world.
Since
In the years after Becky wrote the above, she gained a granddaughter she adored, and moved in with Jimmy at his home. On 12 August 2016, after many years of significant cardiac and respiratory trouble, she died quietly at home.
